Winter storm Kenan is on its way to Billerica. Here’s what you need to know

As Winter Storm Kenan approaches from the northeast, City of Billerica officials have announced snow provisions, cancellations and changes that residents should be aware of.

He added that there will be no trash pickup and that all city buildings, including City Hall, the Council on Aging and the Billerica Public Library, will be closed.

“Stay warm, stay indoors and keep your devices charged,” Curran said.

A CodeRED message was also issued by the city at 3:30 p.m. Friday where Deputy City Manager Clancy Main touched on some important points for citizens as they prepare.

“As you have surely heard, the area will experience high winds and a major snowstorm,” Main said. “If you can, please help the fire department clear hydrants in your area. Finally, avoid the roads as much as possible.”

The National Weather Service forecast 18 to 24 inches of snow over the weekend.

Curran added that while they don’t yet have warming stations open for residents, they have prepared for that possibility.
