Williamsport Police Chief Announces Retirement | New


Williamsport, Pennsylvania – In an unexpected announcement, Williamsport Police Chief Damon Hagan said he would be stepping down as bureau chief.

His last day will be Friday, he said.

Damon Hagan submitted a letter to Mayor Slaughter saying the following:

“Today, I am announcing my retirement from the Williamsport Police Office, effective Friday May 28, 2021.

“It has been a great privilege and honor for me to serve the City of Williamsport for the past 22 years. I truly treasure the experiences and the great friendships that have resulted from this work. I want to thank you all for your support over the years.

“As I leave the office, I am aware that he is being left in the good hands of true professionals. These brave men and women who risk their lives every day for the safety of this community, these great brothers and sisters of mine. they really miss them. “

“I want to thank my family for their patience and sacrifices during all these years. I look forward to spending more time with them in retirement.

Hagan was granted the title of deputy chief by former mayor Gabriel Campana in December 2018, at the same time Campana appointed Marvin “Doc” Miller as chief.

Until then, serving in his 20th year at the williamsport office of Police, originally from Southern California, was promoted to chief in January 2019.

Hagan served two tours in the United States Army, which included service with the 24th Infantry Division during the Persian Gulf War and with the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

He graduated from Fayetteville Technical Community College with associate degrees in Criminal Justice and General Education, and completed the Police Executive Leadership Course (POLEX).
