Houston-based lighting manufacturer Visual Comfort & Co. announced Shane Judd as president of the company’s direct Circa Lighting division. Judd spent 24 years at Kohler Company, most recently serving as Global Vice President of Digital Transformation and playing a critical role in launching Kohler’s e-commerce and direct-to-consumer businesses across digital channels and in store. In his new role, Judd will provide strategic leadership and general direction for Circa Lighting, reporting directly to the Founder and CEO of Visual Comfort. Andy Singer.
Announcement of New York leather goods manufacturer Cortina Leathers Catherine Prause as Marketing Director. Prause is now co-owner of the company and most recently served as graphic design manager and marketing consultant. She brings more than 20 years of marketing experience to this new position, having previously worked on contracts with Nestlé, Ernst & Young and Lincoln Electric in Cleveland.
Austin-based building products brand Kova was welcomed Matthew White as the new Head of Design Research. White brings over 10 years of architecture, engineering, product and construction experience, and previously served as a senior project manager with international design solutions company UAP.
Design & Architecture
Minneapolis-based architecture and design firm Nelson Worldwide announced three new leaders: A. J. Montero as a national leader in healthcare design, Robert Cohoon as central regional technical manager and Richard Savage as a leader in mixed-use design. Montero was a partner with Seattle-based design and architecture firm NBBJ for 25 years and has experience developing construction projects for top healthcare facilities, commercial developers and municipal governments; in this new role, he will grow Nelson’s healthcare portfolio. Cohoon has over 30 years of industry experience. Previously, he was associate director, director of operations and technical director of interior design at Perkins&Will, a Chicago-based architectural planning firm. In his new role, Cohoon will coordinate the production of drawings/documents and oversee building code compliance in the central region. Wilden brings over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate architecture and will join Nelson after working with the company for 14 years. In his new role, Wilden will lead overall planning and architectural design for the company’s Ohio office.
Woolpert, an Ohio-based architectural, engineering, geospatial and strategy consulting firm, announced Paul Heflin as market manager. Heflin brings 30 years of leadership experience in design, architecture, engineering, business development and engineering design, most recently as vice president of design and construction of food and beverage service company SSP America. In his new role, Heflin will lead the architecture, engineering and interior design strategy for Woolpert’s private sector clients.
New York-based Daun Curry Design Studio has announced the appointment of Paris stock exchange as workshop manager. Grant previously ran his own eponymous design firm for nearly four years, leading to articles in Architectural Digest and Elle Decor, and worked as a senior designer with award-winning companies, including designer Jamie Drake and Pembrooke & Ives. In her new role, she will lead strategic planning and hiring, manage clients and projects across all verticals, and help guide the development of the company’s design.
Washington, D.C.-based multidisciplinary architecture and design firm // 3877 hosted Kate Janick as an architectural associate. Janik recently graduated from the Catholic University of America and previously interned at global architecture firm CallisonRTKL, gaining experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural. In her new role, she will work on computer-aided design and technology, assisting teams throughout design development, schematic design and construction administration.
New York-based interior design firm Foley & Cox promoted two team members: Zuni Madera as Vice President and Stephanie Daniels as a senior interior designer. Madera joined the company in 2007 and previously served as Director of Design, leading client communications and project design and development. Madera will lead the creative and aesthetic development of the company. In his new role, Daniels will lead design development, support project administration and represent the company at industry events.

Beautiful house will welcome Jessica Cherner as associate business writer. Cherner started in the design industry with a public relations role at Nylon Consulting before moving into editorial roles at Architectural Summarythe New York Post and 1stDibs, where she served as associate editor.
Luxury Interiors + Design advertised magazine Jana Weil as senior marketing manager. Most recently, Weill served as Director of Marketing at New York-based leather goods maker Cortina Leathers; she also brings over 10 years of marketing experience with companies such as The Robert Allen Group and Designtex.
Retail and manufacturing
Ohio-based retailer Arhaus announced Tim Kuckelman as Chief Operating Officer. Kuckelman brings more than 30 years of experience in retail operations and logistics to his new role and will report directly to the company’s co-founder and CEO. John Rose. Most recently, Kuckleman served as COO of California-based luxury retail company Fashionphile.
Beth Brenner has stepped down from her role as president of DIY cabinetry brand Semihandmade. Acclaim Lighting, a Los Angeles-based lighting technology company, is named Dan Erdman as the new Eastern Region Sales Manager. Most recently, Erdmann served as Director of Sales for electrical manufacturing company Moda Light, where he oversaw sales team operations as well as project management and tracking. In his new role, Erdmann will lead commercial sales and continue to work alongside the company’s existing independent representative companies to build product awareness and grow market share.
New York-based cohabitation company Common announced Karlene Holloman as the new CEO. Previously, Holloman served as executive vice president of property management at Common, and she brings more than 30 years of experience building hospitality businesses in the United States and Australia. Holloman replaces Common founder and chairman Brad Hargreaveswho will continue to act as COO of the company and focus on bringing new types of housing to market.
The American Society of Interior Designers announced the retirement of its CEO Gary Wheeler. Wheeler joined ASID as a student at Louisiana Tech University and has been a member for more than 30 years. He was named ASID Fellow, the company’s highest honor, and served as interim CEO in 2020 and permanent CEO in 2021. During his tenure, Wheeler worked to improve the organization’s inclusivity and amplify the research initiatives to make positive contributions to the profession. Wheeler will remain an advisor to ASID through calendar year 2022 and will assist with the onboarding of ASID’s new CEO.
The New York Chapter of the International Interior Design Association has elected new positions to the Board of Directors and the Board of Directors at large. The new board includes Sarah Levin of ZGF as chairman; Alexandria Davis IA Interior Architects as President-Elect; and Deputy Project Manager at NYU Langone Medical Center Elsie St Leger as outgoing president.
