The Thingamajig Theater Company is thrilled to bring professional theater back to the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts this summer.

Three musicals are planned, with the opening night of “Bright Star” on June 3, “Guys and Dolls” on June 17 and the hilarious family musical “The SpongeBob Musical” on July 1.

The company of professional actors in residence is accompanied by educational opportunities for young people in our community. Whatchamawhozits kids camp for ages 7-12 is in July, and there will be opportunities for teens starting in June.

Another perk for local teens is free attendance at our final dress rehearsal for each of our three summer shows. Parents of teens, mark your diaries on June 2, June 16 and June 30 at 7 p.m. so that your teens can attend the final dress rehearsal performances.

Thingamajig Theater will be holding auditions for a few teenagers to join the production of “The SpongeBob Musical” as part of our ThingamaWHO program. This program brought the audience to experience earlier productions of “Pinkalicious” and “Alice in Wonderland JR”.

Participating in ThingamaWHO allows our local teens to work alongside professional artists and production teams and learn under the guidance of directors. The ThingamaWHO program is free and auditions are open to 13-18 year olds. Teens interested in auditioning can submit a 16-bar singing video of any song of their choice to [email protected]

For the second year in a row, the ThingamaWHO program is also setting up a team of costumers for teenagers who want to learn behind-the-scenes skills. Please email [email protected] if you would like to know more about this opportunity.

Thingamajig is delighted to support creative education in our community.
