Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has issued the official notification for the recruitment of Deputy Commander -02/2023 batch. Eligible applicants can apply online at joinindiancoastguard.gov.in portal from August 17 (11:00 a.m.) to September 7 (5:30 p.m.).
ICG Deputy Commander’s Batch Notification 02/2023 proposes 50 general duty and entry-level commercial pilot positions, 20 technician positions (engineering and electrical), and 1 law officer. GD and Technical vacancies are only available to male applicants.
The ICG Deputy Commander’s 2022 Preliminary Examination will take place in early January next year. Electronic admission cards to candidates eligible to appear on the Preliminary Selection Board (PSB) will be issued from 28 December.
Age: 20-24 years old (born between July 1, 1997 and June 30, 2001) for both branches. Release greater than 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.
- General Service (GD): i) Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks overall; (ii) Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to Intermediate Level or Class XII of the 10+2+3 Curriculum or equivalent with 60% aggregate in Mathematics and Physics.
- Commercial pilot entry: Candidates holding a current / valid Professional Pilot License (CPL) issued / validated by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGAC). Minimum studies diploma – 12th passage (physics and mathematics) with 60% marks in total.
- Technical: i) Engineering degree with 60% marks in total, ii) At least 60% marks in total in Physics and Mathematics in class 12. More details in the notification.
- Right: A law degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% overall marks.

The selection of officer recruits is based on an All India Order of Merit which is based on the performance of the candidate at various stages (I – V) of the examination and the number of vacancies available for the post. Stages include Stage I (CGCAT), Stage II Preliminary Selection Board (PSB), Stage III: Final Selection Board (FSB), Stage IV (Medical) and Stage V (induction).
