It should be noted that tens of thousands of people, including women and children, marched on Friday on the main roads and streets of Gwadar in support of their movement launched for the rights of the inhabitants of Gwadar. Protesters demanded an end to illegal fishing in Gwadar waters by foreign trawlers, claiming that illegal fishing trawlers were destroying the livelihoods of Baloch fishermen.
Several rounds of talks between the government of Balochistan and the protesters have collapsed as the protesters have said they will not end their protest on mere verbal promises. The townspeople are also demanding the supply of drinking water and the removal of unnecessary checkpoints.
