Golf enthusiasts can rejoice. The PGA is back!
It all starts Thursday (January 7, 2021) with the first round of the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.
The Golf Channel will broadcast the event starting at 6 p.m. ET, but if you don’t have cable you can watch on fuboTV, which offers a free trial to new subscribers for a limited time.
KAPALUA, Hawaii (AP) – Dustin Johnson will have spent 53 days between betting to win the Masters by five strokes and the tee shot from Kapalua Hill towards the Pacific horizon.
Some rust is inevitable, even being in Maui for more than a week.
Motivation doesn’t seem to be a problem.
“Motivation for me is not that hard,” Johnson said Wednesday at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, where he won twice. “I like to be the best. I want to continue the good game and I hope I can have a better year.
It would be hard to beat.
Even a year shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic – Johnson missed two tournaments when he tested positive – he has been so good in the past five months that he finished the year with the biggest margin at the No. 1 worldwide in six years.
There’s also this green Masters jacket that Johnson has worn several times at his home in Florida, once for a corporate outing and once as a guest on ESPN’s College Game Day (he chose Coastal Carolina, her alma mater).
It was his crowning achievement, a victory so meaningful to him that he couldn’t speak while wiping away tears. Johnson has the video of his record-breaking Augusta National win and still hasn’t watched it. The details remain clear, especially as it goes piecemeal in the final round.
It’s unclear how he’ll react when he sees the emotion in his post-win interview on Augusta’s putting green.
“Everyone that I have talked to or seen, obviously they really liked it and they said it was nice to see me showing some emotion, just because I am trying on the golf course to not not try to be too excited or too upset, “he said.
