The EV6 has the same 114.2-inch wheelbase as the Kia Telluride, which gives it an idea of its size.
The Kia EV6 comes with two nickel-cobalt-manganese battery options (58 kWh or 77.4 kWh), the larger option offering a target range of 300 miles. The vehicle is offered in both rear wheels and all-wheel drive and delivers 167 to 313 horsepower depending on the electric motor and battery configuration. Equipped with a larger battery and powerful front and rear electric motors, the EV6 GT, an all-wheel drive model, delivers 567 horsepower. GT models that won’t be available until the end of 2022 can travel from 0 mph to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds.
Perhaps more importantly, the vehicle supports a load of 400 volts and 800 volts DC. Kia claims that a quick charge of 800 VDC from a 350 kW charger can add up to 210 miles to the battery in 18 minutes.
Kia has various charging functions. The EV6 is equipped with an 11kW charger for level 2 charging, which powers the battery in about 7 hours. Some are what Kia calls the Vehicle to Load function. It’s a joke that the EV6 can power devices like appliances, tools, and computers. It works by sending electricity from the battery to a charge control unit which provides 1900 watts of power.
The user can connect to this power supply via a 100V outlet in the outlet on the front of the second row seat base. When the battery is fully charged, Kia says it can draw power from the vehicle for over 36 hours straight. The glacial rhythm of 1.1 kW, which is equivalent to a 110V charger, can also be used for car-to-car charging.
There are many other technical driver assistance, safety and on-board features. Inside the car are two 12-inch screens that form a curved screen and house the dashboard and infotainment center. There are also 21 active advanced driver assistance systems as standard, including the ability to keep the EV6 a certain distance from the vehicle ahead and center the EV6 in the lane.
