ITV Britain’s Got Talent actor Flintz & Taylor formed by mistake after meeting hours before the show

Britain’s Got Talent stars Flintz & Taylor only met in person for the first time on the day of their audition. The rapper/pianist duo never intended to become a double act, with a mix-up of microphones leading them to team up.

Flintz & Taylor will take the stage to audition on Saturday’s (May 14) installment of the ITV talent show. But despite their polished performance, rapper Quacey Goodman, aka Flintz, 22, and 17-year-old pianist Taylor Bennett actually only rehearsed once before appearing before the judges.

The pair initially connected via Instagram during the Covid-19 lockdown when Quacey asked Taylor to create a melody to go along with his rap. However, due to the distance between them – Quacey lives in Croydon, south London, while Taylor is based in Great Barr, Birmingham – they never met in person before their audition.

This meant that they only had time to rehearse together in person once. And surprisingly, they only became an official double act when BGT producers accidentally gifted them microphones before sending them on stage.

The original plan was for Taylor to be a background artist. However, with Quacey and Taylor impressing the judges during their audition, Flintz & Taylor was born.

Flintz, who works as a technical assistant in a dental lab, explained, “A week before the audition, I told Taylor to keep it down, but I asked him if he could help me with the keys on the piano. He came up with a melody. We had a rehearsal to check the sound.

“Then the producer asked if we both wanted a microphone, it turns out we walked out and introduced ourselves and they thought we were a duo and it just worked out.”

Taylor added, “I was the anonymous person in the background, but everyone loved us as a duo. We clicked like we’d been friends for ages.”

Britain’s Got Talent airs Saturdays at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub
