Fountain of Youth Football Camp transmits the fundamentals


GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – No matter the time of year, the chance for athletes to train and improve in their sport is always in season.

On Saturday morning, more than 30 children aged 6-18 showed up at the Fountain of Youth Footwork football camp held at Eastside High School.

From 10 a.m. to noon, participants performed a series of drills and drills to test and develop their speed, agility, conditioning, and hand-eye coordination.

They were given detailed instructions on how to properly use their bodies in all aspects of football to improve their game.

The camp was hosted by Eastside High School alumni Cordera Ferguson and Tim Shankle, who were notable football and basketball players as they wore the orange and green Rams uniforms.

After their playing days were over, the duo began their personal training and sport-specific training activity. Some of their clients include college and NFL players, such as:

Current Gator Football Players – Zachary Carter and Anthony Richardson

Current NFL players – Josh Gordon of the Kansas City Chiefs, Duke Dawson of the Denver Broncos, Brandon Powell of the LA Chargers, D’Ernest Johnson of the Cleveland Browns and Freddie Swain of the Seattle Seahawks.
