ABU DHABI, 2nd August, 2022 (WAM) — MAKTABA, the Library Management Section of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi), is hosting its popular annual MAKTABA Summer Camp from 1st to 28th August 2022, to improve the creative and entrepreneurial skills of children and adolescents through fun knowledge acquisition sessions.
The program will include various artistic and educational activities through interactive workshops tailored to different interests and age groups.
Shaikha Almehairi, Director of DCT Abu Dhabi’s Library Management Department, said, “This year, MAKTABA Summer Camp focuses on enhancing participants’ leadership skills, nurturing their creativity and encouraging them to implement their innovative ideas by presenting real experiences of successful entrepreneurs and pioneers in various fields. At MAKTABA, we have ensured that camp activities combine fun and learning while preparing students for a new academic year.
As part of the camp, there is a 2022 Summer Reading Challenge. Children ages 6-16 are invited to participate in the challenge and read 30 books by August 28, 2022 for a chance to win various prices. Parents will be able to participate in the challenge by reading six books over a six-week period.
MAKTABA Summer Camp interactive activities and workshops will include “Create a Business from Drawings”, “Earn Your Talent!” and cooking workshops led by young Emirati chef Aysha AlObeidli, among others.
A number of workshops on management and leadership skills, led by specialists in both fields, will also be organized to improve children’s entrepreneurial skills, such as “How to manage your finances”, “Leader of the 50 Skills! ” and “Investment Strategies!”. These sessions will teach participants how to manage their finances using modern financial planning techniques based on their needs and income. They will also identify investment portfolio distribution mechanisms and highlight the most important necessary leadership skills needed by young people today.
The ‘Action’ workshop will cover communication via social media so that children can create safe and useful content in the digital age dominated by social media. For those with a sweet tooth, “How to make homemade tiramisu?” will talk about the experience of starting a candy-making business from home and selling products through Instagram.
The camp will also offer inspirational educational talks, interactive reading workshops and a range of activities for those with artistic and literary talent.
